Commencement Project - Junior Year
The bulk of the project should be completed during the summers before and after the student's junior year of high school. Students are encouraged to dedicate 40 hours working in a community-centered activity. A community centered activity can be described as a work experience in a profit or nonprofit organization that will give the student exposure to career opportunities or a personal commitment to better the lives of others. This experience can range from an internship to community service. This time is designated outside the academic hours of the school day. Using the administrator's discretion, the last two weeks of the school year can be utilized for project activities. It is the responsibility of the student and his/her parents or guardians to provide transportation to the community centered activities. A Timeline is submitted during the first trimester of the student's junior year and an Interim Report and Updated Timeline are due during the third trimester of the student's junior year. As the project progresses, the student is responsible for keeping an accurate Time Log with appropriate signatures and a detailed Journal to keep track of reflections and accountability checklist.
Update Your Written Plan
In the junior year, students may need to update or add specific details to the Written Plan. If the student plans to redirect the project to another problem in the community, a new Written Plan needs to be submitted.
In the first trimester, students should complete the project Timeline to include specific details about the project. Use the Timeline template below to list the project milestones.

Administrative Review
In the second trimester, the Administration will listen to a brief senior project presentation from the junior class. After introducing him/herself with name and project title, the students will prepare a 1 minute presentation which summarizes three questions: What is the goal of the project? What have I done? What do I have left to do?
Students will use the Elevator Pitch Worksheet to prepare a 60 second project summary for the Upper School Principal.
